CalPERS – The California Public Employees' Retirement System provides retirement coverage to eligible classified employees/substitutes. Classified employees automatically qualify for enrollment in CalPERS after one of the following occurs:

  • A classified employee or substitute has worked 1000 hours in a fiscal year or 125 days in a fiscal year
  • An employee is offered a contract for a permanent classified assignment of 20 hours or more per week with the District
  • An employee who has previously qualified for CalPERS works as a substitute or permanent employee with the District 

myCALSTRS - How will you spend your future? (button)CalSTRS – The California State Teachers' Retirement System provides retirement coverage to teachers in public schools and community colleges.

ARS (3121 Plan) – The 3121 Plan is a savings program for employees who are not eligible to participate in the State Employees' Retirement System. The Plan is a partnership between San Diego County Board of Education Fringe Benefits Consortium, Life Insurance Company of the Southwest, and National Benefit Services, LLC. Prior to eligibility for CalPERS, classified employees and substitutes will be enrolled in the alternative retirement system (3121 Plan).
