School fees are determined based on the square footage of all new construction and additions on residential and commercial property falling within the Carlsbad Unified School District boundaries. Any new residential additions or construction less than 500 square feet is not subject to a fee. If your project is subject to school fees, the City of Carlsbad’s Building department will provide a certification that can be brought to the school district to verify payment has been made. The city will prepare the required documents during the building permit process.  The certification, signed by the school district official, will need to be returned to the Building department prior to your building permit being issued. Certification of School Fees Paid Form

1. Please email your Certification of School Fees Paid Form along with a phone number, and project address to: lgrundler@carlsbadusd.net
2. You will receive a reply email with your fee calculation. We accept exact cash amount, check, or money order ONLY.
   Make your check/money order payable to 'Carlsbad Unified School District' or 'CUSD'.
3. You can then bring your payment to the CUSD District Office located at 6225 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009, open 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday.
4. Once payment is received by CUSD, the District will sign the Certification of School Fees Paid Form and provide a copy of the form for you to take back to the City of Carlsbad.
